Associated Societies Expo & Mentoring Opportunity – Apply by 7/30

Greetings!

I’m writing to invite you to apply to participate in a 1-day workshop on Saturday, October 14th in Pittsburgh, the day before GSA Connects 2023 begins. The workshop is sponsored by GeosciencesASCEND, an NSF-funded effort that aims to broaden participation, acceptance, and inclusion of diverse populations across the geosciences.

The workshop will provide you with meaningful, direct ways to engage with scholars from GSA’s On To the Future (OTF) program. In the morning, OTF scholars will build professional development skills. The afternoon will be an Associated Societies Expo, where you will have an opportunity to engage in more informal, extended conversations with a broad cohort of aspiring geoscientists, curious to learn more about your societies and all they have to offer.

GeoASCEND is seeking 1 representative from each society to participate as mentors.  Mentors will receive a $400 stipend in exchange for their participation, including the pre-work describe below. To apply, fill out this online form before July 30th: https://forms.gle/BQyTHf5WWCVFYm1T9.
